ABOUT US

We’re Jody and Heidi Bates—better known as The Bates Motel RV—and we’re the WagonMasters behind the Grand Design New England Rally and the Bates Motel RV Meetups. We’ve been part of the Grand Design family since 2018, traveling this beautiful country in our Imagine 2970RL alongside our two dogs. We spend about 6–7 months a year on the road, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

For us, RVing has always been about more than the places we visit. It’s about the people we meet, the friendships we make, and, of course, having a whole lot of fun along the way. We love welcoming new faces, catching up with old friends, and creating memories wherever the road takes us.

A Few Fun Facts About Us...

• We’re ordained ministers and had the honor of marrying two of our Grand Design friends in beautiful Destin, Florida, in 2022.

• Our camper is officially named The Bates Motel RV and has a custom wrap.

• We host yearly meetups other then our rally.  These meetups are open to all brands of rvs.

• Our first Grand Design rally was in late 2019 in the Mid-Atlantic. We were hooked from the very beginning!

• Jody used to be in a band.

• Heidi has appeared on Animal Planet, and some of her pets have even been featured in a New York Times bestselling children’s book.

• And finally…we’re pretty sure we’re destined to win the lottery someday. Fingers crossed!

We never imagined that buying a camper would introduce us to an entire family of incredible people. What started as RV travel has become a lifestyle filled with friendships, adventures, laughter, and memories we’ll cherish for years to come. We feel incredibly lucky to live this life and to be part of such an amazing RV community. So come find us, introduce yourself, and get ready to laugh—we can’t wait to meet you!
